Coming soon to the public, in the next six weeks...WORDS BORN OF SILENCE-UNEXPECTED GIFTS OF AUTISM.
There will be ongoing photos and exerpts from the book published here periodically. The photos below were taken at the group with group home aides and the Group Home Co-ordinator Jancee on the right.
Below is Derrick, Michael's older brother and I and Roger at a birthday party at the park. Notice he received a huge Teddy Bear for his birthday. He already loves to feel the texture of it.
More photos and stories from the book will follow in the next few weeks and months. Info of where to purchase the book will be posted at a later date.
Hello! I came across this blog from the Herald Journal article and I remember working with Michael in 1991 at MLMS! I did a practicum as a college freshman and spent time with Michael - I can still remember his enthusiasm over signing the word "ice cream!" I also knew Shawn, another son of yours.
I look forward to reading your book and although I am not LDS, as a person who lived in Utah a total of 12 years (1991 - 1999 and recently 2006 - Aug. 2010), I appreciate the community of people who serve one another and help without judgment. I am the mother of a 10-year old daughter and parenting is tough, yet with help from our friends, churches and community, we can raise wonderful children and not lose our sanity! :)
